Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 15, 2026

Bookery is built to help you track your reading — not to harvest your data. This policy explains what we store, why, and the choices you have.

What we collect

Account: if you sign in, we store your email address to identify your account. You can sign in with an email link or with Google.

Your library: the books, reading progress, notes, quotes and goals you add. On your device this stays local; if you turn on cloud sync (a Premium feature), it is also stored securely so it can sync across your devices.

Basic technical data needed to run the service, such as request logs used to keep the app reliable and prevent abuse.

What we do NOT do

We do not use third-party advertising or tracking analytics.

We do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone.

We do not read your notes or quotes for any purpose other than syncing them back to you.

How your data is used

To provide the core features: saving your library, syncing it across devices, and showing your stats.

Book search results come from the Google Books API, which we call on your behalf; your search terms are sent to that service only to return results.

To keep the service secure and working — for example, rate-limiting to prevent abuse.

Where it is stored

Cloud data is stored with our infrastructure provider (Supabase) and protected so that only your account can access your own records.

Your choices

You can use Bookery fully offline without an account; nothing leaves your device until you sign in and enable sync.

You can request deletion of your account and associated cloud data at any time by contacting us.
